On
June 15th, Decatur, GA hosted its annual Beach Party.
The rain held off so that a beautiful and eventful evening
could be delivered where fun, food, and music were the themes
of the night. In previous years the Decatur Beach Party
has been a charitable night of fun and free spirits and
this year was no different. People of all ages came out
to enjoy the scene, friends, family, and to have a good
time!
The
fun started at 5:00 P.M. when inflatable slides, pirate
ships, and trains were mobbed by kids eager to show off
their energy and big smiles. As in years past, 60 tons of
sand were dumped onto Ponce de Leon Avenue where kids of
all ages built sandcastles and moats and enjoyed the beach
feeling.
The
food was perfect for the event. Chic-Fil-A, Taco Mac
and even Decatur High School's very own band were
on hand to sell a variety of tasty choices from barbecue
sandwiches and chicken wings to chicken nuggets and French
fries. Starbuck's was also there handing out free
samples of their new Orange Crème Frappuccino which
wonderfully complimented the warm summer evening.

Sixty
tons of sand were brought to Decatur, GA's main street
so kids of all ages could build castles and moats
in the sand.
The
music captured the mood of the festivities the way only music
can! Beach Party goers moved to the sounds of Route 66
and later on Terry Lee and the GT's. Timeless classics
like Earth, Wind and Fire's "Let's Groove" were
accompanied by the laid back reggae flow of Bob Marley's "One
Love," later followed by the crowd favorite, "Shout!"
by the Isley Brothers!
The
2007 Decatur Beach Party was a hit from every angle: good
food, great music and entertainment cannot be argued. The
festivities may have lasted from 5:00 P.M. until midnight
but the good times and fun were enough to last throughout
the year! If you missed the Beach Party this year, next
year is sure to be even more exciting! See you there!
